Looking for Mabel Normand

Madcap Mabel Normand

A friend sent me a photocopy of a 1916 Saturday Evening Post article by Mack Sennett from September 16.  It has some wonderful material in it; Mack tells stories that you may have read but because of the early date (1916) this maybe the first time they were in print.  The story of Mabel Normand and her little bear is just wonderful and her trip to Mexico and than there is the time she saved 200lb Fred Mace from a 3ft wave, there are also tales of her “funny friends.”

Because of the large scale format of the Saturday Evening Post, it is hard to copy so I was going to transcribe the whole thing but it is a long article… but I did finally figured out a way to scan it, I am not going to add any pictures, etc (well maybe later) as the text is long enough and will take time to read on-line but worth it.

We all owe a thank you to Lisle Foote for the lovely gift.
