Sponsored by Petrobras, the initiative makes available through the site www.bjksdigital.museusegall.org.br about 100 thousand pages of two publications that circulated between the 1920 and 1950. “A digitalização desse acervo preserva a coleção original e divulga o conteúdo tanto para pesquisadores acadêmicos, como para o público leigo”, afirma Cecilia Soubhia, coordenadora do projeto e da Biblioteca Jenny Klabin Segall. "The digitization of this collection preserves a unique collection and publish content for both academic researchers and for the lay public," according to Cecilia Soubhia, project coordinator of the Jenny's Klabin Segall Library.  Although as the language of Brazilian as most people know is Portuguese, after awhile browsing the tables of contents becomes easier, it is well worth the effort even if you just enjoy the images

The digitization of the journals and A Scena Muda and e Cinearte, undertaken by the team's at the Jenny Klabin Segall has two fundamental objectives: first, preserve the unique collections of rare journals that, by time and continuous handling of the researchers, were badly damaged and, secondly, ensure broad access to this valuable, cultural heritage of the country in order to fulfill its public mission.

Edited weekly in the first half of the twentieth century, A Scena Muda (1921-1955) and Cinearte (1926-1942), are documents of indisputable historical value, essential to the recovery of the history of cinema, the exhibition and film criticism in Brazil.

Now, you can electronically flip through these magazines, to see them through the internet or search your content matters relating to the beginnings of cinema in Brazil.

The site has no commercial purpose. The images of the magazines presented here are in low resolution, thus preventing its commercial exploitation. Furthermore, observing the provisions of copyright law in force in the PDF files have been blocked functions of copying and printing. Any attempt to circumvent this blockade is the sole responsibility of its author, which is therefore subject to the penalties provided by law.

The project had the important partnership of the Brazilian Film, Cinematheque MAM in Rio de Janeiro's Municipal Andrade and Historical Museum.  It was the Petrobras Cultural Program, whose financial contribution was essential to achieving this important project.
